The city of Conway is the county seat of Horry County in the state of South Carolina. Conway has a rich history, initially named Kingston in the early 1700s. Following the American Revolutionary War, the town was renamed to Conway in honor of General Robert Conway.
Currently, Conway is experiencing large population growth. The United States Census Bureau
recorded 17,103 people in Conway in 2010. However, 2016 estimates indicate a 31.6% change since 2010, with an estimated population of 22,761 in Conway.
With continued population growth comes the challenges of supporting incoming residents. The city of Conway has rapidly developed its infrastructure to accommodate new residents and businesses. The downtown river walk and marina include recent renovations that allow for greater foot traffic and business space. Locals can also enjoy NCAA athletic events, with nearby Coastal Carolina University recently winning national titles in baseball.
